Shawn Kammerer, owner of Craftsman Door Company in Martinez, has been building custom doors and windows since 2003, following in the footsteps of his grandfather. Working mostly in the Arts-and-Crafts and Victorian styles, he has built thousands of windows and hundreds of doors for restoration projects on period homes as well as for new construction.
Utilizing traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, furniture quality lumber, and good design practices, the Craftsman Door Company produces doors and windows that will last a century or more, ensuring that homes built by generations past can maintain their beauty for generations to come. Victorian diamond light double-hung windows for the oldest house in Arcata, CA. Built in 1852, this house was virtually destroyed by fire in 2000. All the windows were replaced, using old growth redwood timbers salvaged from the few unburnt roof rafters. With the help of photos of the house from before the fire, we were able to replicate the original design for each window in the house. Built in conjunction with Cliff Jones of CJ’s Sash and Door in Fieldbrook, CA. Photo; Megan Kammerer.
